CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1997 BMW 5-Series, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The paint code can be located underneath the hood near the front strut tower, on the firewall, or the passenger side wheel housing. Click here for BMW paint code location chart and paint code label examples.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1997 BMW 5-Series is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Delighted Customer, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series

I bought the cleaner, binder, primer and paint to repaint my damaged bumper and decided to try and spray a small area on the left fender. I followed the technique used in the video and am amazed with the result. I have looked at my job in direct sunlight trying to discern any difference and even knowing exactly where the original paint joins, I am unable to detect the slightest imperfection. My paint was BMW's Oxford Green Metallic, a dark color. Since the automobile has always been garaged there was no fading. This undoubtedly was a factor in the result I achieved. But the paint sent by Automotive Touchup was a DEAD ON MATCH! Not only would I buy this paint again... I already have!

Victor P, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from Cincinnati, OH

I do like the result of using the touch-up paint from this company. I can only wish they'd be able to fulfill the order at a faster pace, thus reducing the waiting time.

Jim P, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from Salinas, CA

Great paint, matched perfectly.

Claude M, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from WI

This is my second order of paint touch-up spray cans from Automotive Touchup. Basecoat color and clearcoat look great. I would highly recommend them.

Jay M, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from Carrboro, NC

What can I say, the result turn out to be incredible and fantastic. Nobody can recognize which was the old paint and which one is the new paint, it blended perfectly and professionally. This was my second order ready to spray cans with gun for my BMW 528i Oxford Green that had dents on the rear right side that looked really bad but after fixing the dents, sending, primer, base coat and clear coat it turned out really nice. My first order was spray cans that I used for front fog light bumper that had cracks and scratches and turned out like original. I saved lots of money with Automotive Touchup factory default original like paints. I am very pleased with the results. I will be using them more in the future whenever I need paints and recommending others as well. Thank you Automotive Touch up.

Patrick I, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from Seymour, CT

Very happy with everything. Shipping very prompt. Perfect color match. All instructions very well done. Will be purchasing again.

Jay Mog, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from Carrboro, NC

After being shopping around online for my 1997 BMW 528i and 2003 Saturn Vue, finally came across Automotive Touch Up and decided to find out the right choice of my both cars paint and surprisingly it was very easy to chose from the specific list based on the car models and paint specifications. Recently the BMW has been painted front fog-light bumper which look exactly factory default paint and I could not differentiate them. For 2003 Saturn Vue I ordered only touch pen for base coat, primer and glossy which I missed the exact specification so it was slightly different when I used for scratches but overall it was great. I am planning to order more for my BMW to paint some of the denting part. I highly recommend vehicle owners who want to do job by themselves as a project or order by yourself and give it to the body shop where you trust to paint professionally your car. For the vehicle painting I will not look around anymore because I found my final destination Automotive Touch Up.

Steve C, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from Hudson, MA

Very happy with the paint and clear coat. Needed to replace a handle on my 97 BMW, came out pretty nice. The match is totally acceptable. Will send a picture when I install it on the car, thanks again. Steve

Brian, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from Waukegan, IL

The quality of the product was excellent - color, coverage and ease of use. Directions for the products were clear and concise. A must have product for the DIY.

Vincent Tong, owner of a 1997 BMW 5-Series from Fremont, CA

I have ordered three times from Automotive Touchup. The paints match my two cars very good. It is really a big help with low cost. Both base coat and clear coat from the spray can are very easy to use. I would highly recommend this to my friends.
