You can use automotive polishing compound in a few different ways:

• Use automotive rubbing compound after your base coat has dried to correct any minor surface imperfections before the clear coat goes on.

• For larger imperfections like the dreaded orange peel effect, you can use 1,500-grit sandpaper and then follow that with rubbing compound for cars to remove scratches and restore the shine.
