CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1998 BMW 8-Series, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The paint code can be located underneath the hood near the front strut tower, on the firewall, or the passenger side wheel housing. Click here for BMW paint code location chart and paint code label examples.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1998 BMW 8-Series is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Jon, owner of a 1999 BMW Z3 from NY

I bought spray cans of paint and clear instead of powering up the gun as it was just a couple of rims. I used one can of each per rim over a high build primer. Both atomized well with a good fan. I highly recommend the add on handle as there is much better control of movement. Very forgiving paint so should not be an issue for those trying their first paint job. The silver was a touch dark in side by side comparison which would not be an issue if both were on the same side of the vehicle. These won't be but being on front and rear corners may tone down the slight difference. All in all, happy with the results. Kudos to the Customer Service Dept. Early on I had sent the same question to several on-line paint suppliers. automotivetouchup responded promptly and was the only one to answer at all. That's a big plus to me and swayed me to place my order with this company.

Von B, owner of a 1999 BMW Z3 from San Rafael, CA

Repainted bumper on a 20 year old BMW Z3. The match to the original mfg. paint was spot on. Ordering was easy. Shipment was on time. And, application of primer, base coat and clear coat was easy.
