CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1973 Volkswagen (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The paint code is normally located in the back compartment panel in the trunk. Click here for Volkswagen paint code location diagrams and label examples.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1973 Volkswagen (All Models) is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Paint was a perfect match. Delivery was on time.

George W, owner of a 1973 Volkswagen from Baltimore, MD

The paint was a perfect match for my 73 bug. Thanks

Jerald M, owner of a 1973 Volkswagen from Onalaska, WI

I don't own a Buick. I have a VW Karmann Ghia for which I'm trying to select a color. When I see a color on a car, I purchase a can of paint from Automotive Touch up. I then do a spray out on a test panel. I also paint a 1;18" scale mode of a Ghia. Selecting a color is very important. I generally go through several samples from your company to find the "right one". I've now ordered 4 various samples and am getting closer to my final choice. It's very nice to have this option. Thank you.
