CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1981 Honda Accord, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. Click here for Honda paint code location chart and paint code image example.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1981 Honda Accord is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Ron S, owner of a 1981 Honda from Gilroy, CA

I purchased base coat and clear coat a couple of months ago to do a late model car bumper repair (2017 Camaro) and it turned out beautifully. It was a perfect color match, and yielded an especially glossy clear coat finish using the blue rubbing compound. I liked the rubbing compound so much that I used the rest of it on a DuPont paint repair from several years ago that had never quite shined like it should. It worked perfectly for that purpose despite the age of the paint on that other vehicle. I am currently working on an old motorcycle's tank and fairings (1981 CBX) and had the base color paint on hand for it already. I purchased the clear coat from Automotive Touchup because I was so impressed with the way it had worked on the bumper repair. It is still a work in progress but I anticipate that the clear coat will turn out just as good as the previous repair job did. I also purchased the larger size of the rubbing compound this time because I don't want to run out. Great stuff! Thanks.

Lisa M, owner of a 2008 Honda Accord from Atlanta, Georgia

I am so pleased with the products that I received from this company. I have tri-color paint on my car, plus I was doing the touch ups myself for the first time ever. I decided to order the 2 oz. bottles. The paint is very high quality and is a great match to my vehicle. I learned something that I wish I'd known before I began applying any paint. By using the brush applicator inside the bottles, the brushes are so small that it made it difficult to create a smooth coat on the larger areas. I decided to purchase Transon Synthetic Filbert Paint Brush Set 10pcs for Acrylic Watercolor Gouache Art Painting and Body Craft Painting. I wish I had used them to start with. The next to largest and largest give you the ability to apply the paint far more evenly without creating areas that have to be sanded down. These brushes are so great, because the paint is made to dry fast. I wet sanded the areas that I had previously applied with the brush in the bottle with 3000 grit sandpaper on a sanding block, then re-applied with the Filbert brushes. No globs or bumps. I hope this review prevents someone else from having to do their touch-ups twice. I give this paint five stars for color matching and quality.
