To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1999 GMC Full Size Van, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code will be located on a sticker named Parts Identification. Color matched metallic paint not only was very close match, but metallic laid out just like the original, too. 20 year old car, so you cannot expect a perfect match. Blending techniques would make it invisible, but I am just a hobbyist and have not learned that skill so far. Finish One clearcoat worked very well, too. Don’t worry if your clear ends up with orange peel. Simply color sand smooth and buff out to perfect results. Do not be afraid of edges when buffing, just slow your buffer speed way down and no problem.
