CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1998 Chevrolet Caprice Sedan, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code will be located on a sticker named Parts Identification. The code can start with BC/CC followed by a U, or a WA with a four digit number/letter combination. We use the WA format for simplicity, your code may have a U. WA8555 is the same as U8555. Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1998 Chevrolet Caprice Sedan is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Debra T, owner of a 1999 Chevrolet Express from Sitka, AK

I think it would be a perfect match except that my van is older and probably has faded a bit. Good product

Bob W, owner of a 1999 Chevrolet Corvette from Amelia Court House, VA

Very pleased. After moving from Southern California to Virginia I had to put a front license plate on my '99 Corvette. The factory front plate mounting bracket is pebble-grain textured black plastic , which would've looked crappy on a Torch Red Vette. I've painted my own projects before and have the equipment to do it, but my compressor was damaged by the movers and I hadn't gotten it repaired. I fellow member of the Corvette Club of Richmond told me about Automotive Touchup so I decided to give 'rattle cans' a try, and I'm really pleased that I did. I spent a lot of time sanding, priming, sanding again, until the part was glass smooth. I ordered cans of base coat and high gloss clear. The color match was perfect (Torch Red is not an easy color to match) and applied very well. The clear coat also laid on perfectly, and the front license plate mounting bracket is a perfect match for the (well-preserved and cared for) factory paint on the cat. I am extremely pleased and highly recommend Automotive Touchup to anyone who wants to do-it-themselves. Just remember that the preparation for the paint itself is as vital to getting good results as the quality of the color and clear coats you apply.
