CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1989 BMW 3-Series Cabrio, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The paint code can be located underneath the hood near the front strut tower, on the firewall, or the passenger side wheel housing. Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1989 BMW 3-Series Cabrio is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Andrew T, owner of a 1988 BMW 3-Series from Gettysburg, PA

Touch up paint arrived promptly as ordered and at a much lower cost than I had found elsewhere. This was a hard to find color for my 25 year old BMW. The color match was fair, but not perfect. Considering the paint on the car was aged and had been repainted years ago, this is probably the best that can be expected without great cost. The brush in cap, paint kit filled stone chips and small scratches very nicely. I found it did not go on smoothly in larger scrapes. This would perhaps require a spray can. Overall, I consider it a good product at reasonable cost. Maybe I'll try the spray can for the larger scrape later.

Bruce E, owner of a 1990 BMW 5-Series from Mathews, VA

My son had a raccoon incident and we had to replace the whole bumper cover on a 1990 BMW 525I (Delphin Gray, 183). I was hesitant to do the job because of bad experiences with the spray paint you get from a home center. This paint isn't anything like that; it goes on smooth and dries fast. I used a whole can to put 3 coats of base on. Don’t panic at what it looks like the clear coat is where the magic happens. After applying the clear coats the finish was unbelievable. The paint color was a perfect match. I did make a mistake (because I'm cheap). As per the instructions the base coat should be 2 or more light coats and the clear should be 3 or 4 wet coats. I only ordered enough clear to do 2 nice coats, it still looks perfect. Next time I'll be sure to order more clear than base. I’m very happy and would use Automotive Touchup again. Thanks.
