Select Your BMW's Color (Step One)

AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1983 BMW (All Models) using a basecoat/clearcoat system just like factory specs. To insure a proper match, you’ll need to know your vehicle’s color code, so you can find it on the chart below. The paint code can be located underneath the hood near the front strut tower, on the firewall, or the passenger side wheel housing. Click here for BMW paint code location chart and paint code label examples.

Please note: The 'All Models' pages sometimes have a large amount of results to scroll through, if your vehicle's model is in the list of options on the prior screen we recommend trying that first.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1983 BMW (All Models) is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Sam D, owner of a 1983 BMW from Lampasas, TX

Perfect match despite the 30 year old fade of the original paint. Very happy with the results!! BMW 181

Rory B, owner of a 1983 BMW 7-Series from Santa Cruz, CA

I'm figuring out how to use it right, so there is probably a lot more sanding involved than necessary, but they really do deliver on what they offer...I've got some seamless transitions... the paint matches the original exactly, and makes this project much more fun and rewarding because of it! thanks

Dana J P, owner of a 1984 BMW 6-Series from Arlington, WA

BMW Burgunrot Metallic #199 1) The grey primer is relatively thin and requires many coats to achieve any build thickness. I applied two coats before wet sanding and another two coats with additional wet sanding to get a good surface. 2) The color base coat covered fairly well but to get best application required short sweeping strokes. Attempts to apply long sweeping strokes resulted in surging from the can and inconsistent layering of paint material. 3) Consistent coverage was achieved with short strokes and alternate cross-hatch pattern. Final result looks good.
