CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1987 Volvo (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. Click here for Volvo paint code location diagrams and label examples.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1987 Volvo (All Models) is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Glen E, owner of a 1987 Volvo from Greenbank, WA

I purchased color/ clear coat touch up paint for a Volvo using the color code on the vehicle. The match is 95%. The touch up paint is slightly yellow compared to the car. The car had been repainted a few years back and It's impossible for me to know if the very slight difference is due to the repaint color being off original spec or the touch up paint is. A sample I made does show the same slight difference from the door jams that were not painted so I'm suspecting the touch up paint is a bit off. I have a good eye for color and I suspect no one will see it but me and I'm satisfied. The product was delivered swiftly and the cans had a better than average spray tips. The system was easy to use and the finish looks nice. I will order again if needed.

John K, owner of a 1988 Volvo from Montclair, NJ

Product is excellent. I am taking my time with the application process, though, as I believe it is trickier than it seems. I have a beautiful, '88 Volvo that has no rust, but is losing it's clear coat in spots. Also, there are a few slight blemishes her and there - probably noticeable only to me. In trying first the paint pen I've noticed: 1) less is better, and 2) one must gently buff the spot before application for best result. I am VERY PLEASED with your product, however. I am apprehensive about treating larger areas w/o some guide, so I am scanning you- tube. You are the pros, though, and any help for a 1st timer would be appreciated!

Michael N, owner of a 1988 Volvo from PA

One thing I have to say about Automotive Touchup is thank God for masking tape. If I did not mark every area I was working on I would be in big trouble because the match was so perfect that even with the tape I had trouble finding the touchup areas after just the first base coat. After the second and third, it was a chore to find the areas- a good chore to have, I might add. Perfect paint match with excellent packaging and presentation to boot.
