To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1978 Toyota (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. I bought the base coat and clear coat in May. It is August and I finally got to paint the new tail gate I am installing on the 1978 Toyota Land Cruiser that belongs to a friend. First, I appreciate that Automotive Touchup mixed a quart of the Toyota 532 base coat after it disappeared from the web site. I was afraid I would not be able to get it, so THANK YOU!! I have never sprayed a base coat that did not require mixing, so I was a bit apprehensive when I poured the base coat straight into my paint gun. The Automotive Touchup base coat went on very nicely and smoothly with good coverage over epoxy primer. The urethane clear coat needed only reducer and I was pleased that you helped me get the slow reducer because it was over 90 degrees when I painted the tail gate. The clear coat flowed very nicely. I am not an experienced painter but I have beautifully painted tail gate that matches the color of the Land Cruiser exactly. Thank you for being there with your excellent products!!
