To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. I painted the upper surface of 1999 Alero spoiler with paint code 512F. I prepped by sanding old clear coat off with scotchbright. Then painted 5 or 6 light coats of base color, followed by 5 or 6 coats of clear coat. The finished job does not match perfectly, it is a bit lighter and leans more towards gold. Overall I'm satisfied with the paint, as it's a tough color to match perfectly.
