CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1971 Oldsmobile (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code will be located on a sticker named Parts Identification. The code can start with BC/CC followed by a U, or a WA with a four digit number/letter combination. We use the WA format for simplicity, your code may have a U. WA8555 is the same as U8555. Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1971 Oldsmobile (All Models) is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Great product, easy to follow website.

I ordered our 71 Olds Cutlass Supreme 455 SX Convertible (only 357 built) shortly after being discharged from the Marine Corp, and it was delivered Feb 13th. 1971. Gas prices at the time was 36.9 a gal. (Ethel) We drove the car until gas prices got too high and we parked it in my parent's garage in a small farm town in Illinois. My Dad drove it as he was helping my brother do some work at his house. Upon completion he did not return it to the garage but parked it in the Morton building on the farm. I tell you that because the garage in town were the car was previously parked was destroyed by a tornado. The car sat in the barn from 1987 to 2022 when we decided to bring her back to life. She has been completely restored short of the interior that awaits material to match the original. The original wheels were steel rims because I would put mag wheels on it upon delivery. During the restoration process We found some Rally Wheels that could be painted to match the paint color. 4 wheels were painted to match the Sable Brown exterior, but the spare wheel was not painted. Thus I ordered the 2 step base and clear coat for it. Came out great. Color seems to match pretty closely to the original color.

Richard S, owner of a 1971 Oldsmobile from Swannanoa, NC

Paint was used for a model of a 442 once owned. Compared to pictures I had it was an exact match. The paint worked great through my airbrush, and the clear produced a finish that needed no polishing.
