CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1989 Mazda CX-5, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb or on the firewall. Click here for Mazda paint code locations and a label example.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1989 Mazda CX-5 is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Louis T, owner of a 1990 Mazda Miata from Talbott, TN

Never would have believed the color would be a perfect match.

Bruce V, owner of a 1990 Mazda Miata from Nevada City, CA

I had some serious chips in my 1990 Mazda Miata, which is overall, a very pristine car. I ordered the touch up pens in primer, color, and clear coat. I have to say, I am VERY pleased with the result. Took off the wax with acetone before starting. I was skeptical, so did some chips below the mouth of the car. Came out perfect, and the big chip on the front fender where some SOB opened a door into it, which was deep, required a number of applications, but you now have to get your nose to it to see that it had been retouched. The color match(SU) is perfect, product is easy to apply and I, and my wife, are happy. Good product, and it came quite promptly.
