To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. During a jumper cable short circuit that caught fire and damaged some bumper surfaces on our 2006 Lexus LS430, I was heart-broken but then surprised at the cost of professional repair. Bought the three step primer, base-coat and top-coat (specified for make, year, model and color) and did what I saw professionals do, prep, prime, spray and top coat with lots of sanding with progressive up to 1500 grit between coats. The results - you have to be a very very experienced eye to detect the touch-up. For decades I have used auto-store rack items for paint work.
