CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1997 Lexus RX, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. The code will have a C/TR in front of it. A typical code will look like C/TR: 1D4/FH13, and 1D4 would be the color code in this example. Click here for Lexus paint code location and paint code image sample.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1997 Lexus RX is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Alain M, owner of a 1998 Lexus GS300 from Raleigh, NC

My 1998 LEXUS GS300 had a few nasty scratches on the side of the front bumper as well as both rear view mirrors. I bought a can of paint and another can of clear coat, sanded the bumper and the mirrors with 320, 600 then 1200 sandpaper, cleaned up with Prep Sol solvent and taped around the areas to paint. Using your paint product and following directions I put 3 light coats of paint and one coat of clear. Damage if totally gone and I couldn't be happier. Thanks for a great product.

Charles A, owner of a 1998 Lexus SC400 from Kinnelon, NJ

The color of my car is somewhat unique being a deep purplish red. I was concerned with the color matching. I received both the paint pen and touch up paint with the top coat. This weekend I used the pen in a couple spots. The touch up spots are only noticeable for me. When I asked my wife to look at them, she couldn't find where it was touched up.
