To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1997 Lexus ES, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. The code will have a C/TR in front of it. My 1998 LEXUS GS300 had a few nasty scratches on the side of the front bumper as well as both rear view mirrors. I bought a can of paint and another can of clear coat, sanded the bumper and the mirrors with 320, 600 then 1200 sandpaper, cleaned up with Prep Sol solvent and taped around the areas to paint.
