CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1998 Ford Heavy Truck, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. Click here for the Ford paint code location chart and paint code image example.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1998 Ford Heavy Truck is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Douglas D, owner of a 1999 Ford Explorer from Tucker, GA

Only had a few chips to cover up; bought the touch-up paint to mask them. I was surprised at how well the color matched, even for a 1999 model. My previous experience with touch-up paint was on another vehicle with the dealer's own stuff - and you could tell where it was applied. I wasn't expecting such a good match, just something to cover the dings to help prevent rusting. I'll definitely consider AutomotiveTouchup again when I need to get touch-up paint.

Robert F, owner of a 1999 Ford from Ridgecrest, CA

I bought paint and clear coat to touch up my topper. It looks great. I was surprised at how well it matched and how easy it was to apply. Then I got this idea to try it on a small area on my truck where the clear coat was peeling. I had watched videos that said this was a bad idea but I tried it anyway. I masked it off in a strip, prepared the surface by removing the clear coat that had peeled, then I sprayed a thin layer of paint and hit it with new clear coat. It matched perfectly. Was I pulled off the tape it looked like I had applied a perfectly matching strip of vinyl tape. Not for everyone I'm sure but it worked well for my application. Thanks for the quality product. Also it arrived in a week. Not bad since it has to be mixed per order.
