CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1996 Ford Probe, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. Click here for the Ford paint code location chart and paint code image example.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1996 Ford Probe is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Greg Cook, owner of a 1997 Ford F150 from Mountain View, CA

I'm happy with this paint. I was concerned that the spray cans might not spray very well, but the paint comes out in a nice fine mist. When I didn't press hard enough sometimes drops came out and dripped on the surface. The paint is quite thin and took extra coats on gray primer to cover. The coverage I got on the roof of my truck was about 1.5 spray cans to put 3 coats on 21 square feet. I tried for 50% overlap. I'm happy with that. Most of the surface was the same color so that probably helped use less paint to cover. I'm so happy--I really didn't expect such good quality paint and spray can.

Lee, owner of a 1997 Ford Thunderbird from Franklin, NC

This was for a side view mirror replacement prior to installation on the car. Application of base color (metallic): Dust [2 coats]; Light [2 coats]; Medium [1 coat] Wet [1 coat]. At least, 10 mins between coats. After 24 hours, Clear coat: Dust [2 coats]; Light [1 coat]; Medium [1 coat], Wet [2 coats]. An average of 30 minutes between coats. Result: very satisfactory, especially for a 17 year old car with original paint, slightly oxidized.
