To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1980 Buick (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. I purchased some splash guards for our 2025 Buick Envision Avenir that came in black plastic only (made for the Sport trim). According to Buick, no splash guards are available for the Avenir trim. This may be because the wheel arches and rockers are body color instead of black. I found Automotive Touchup online and that the paint code color was available. I prepped the splash guards by lightly sanding the finish, applied adhesion promotor, the ordered primer, and the color coat, lightly wet sanding with very fine grade sandpaper between each coat of primer and color. I let the color coat dry overnight and compared it the car body in the sunlight. It was a close match. I then applied 4 coats of clear, lightly wet sanding between coats, and let that dry overnight and installed the splashguards on the vehicle. The color match is almost perfect. I am very pleased with the results and I am not an accomplished automotive painter. Everyone who sees the results say that the color matches well. I would highly recommend Automotive Touchup paint product.
