CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1988 Audi A5, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The paint code is normally located in the back compartment panel in the trunk. Click here for an Audi paint code location diagram and label example.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1988 Audi A5 is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Terry A, owner of a 2014 Audi S5 from Orlando, FL

I am - at best - a novice painter. I used your paint first on a small cover/cap that I had to replace on my Audi. The end result came out perfect (in my personal opinion). I recently moved to a larger effort and more visible visible on my Audi - the hood. It had water marks coming from the dealer and then some small annoying chips - regular wear. I went to your web site which was exceptionally thorough - a wealth of information for a beginner. I really appreciated the detail given my experience. I wet sanded starting with 400 to 600 to 800 to 1000, 2000, and finally 3000. I suspect this was overkill but better safe than sorry. From your recommended coverage defined by your car chart - I purchased what was suggested and nearly finished but ran out of paint for the final coat. The coverage was smooth, even, and color matched - I have a friend that owns his own business and often are asked to shoot custom parts. Had him look at the work asking him to be a critical as he could. He had a few suggestions but said it was as good as any he had seen. He asked where I got the paint - AutomotiveTouchup. I also called your team to verify paint codes - she was very polite and patient and validated the code was correct. Shipping was also better than I've experienced with other online stores - each time the product arrived sooner than originally stated. In my opinion you guys are aces. I have no desire to shop elsewhere given the overall excellent quality of your tea

Dennis K, owner of a 2014 Audi A5 Cabrio from Clayton, NC

The previous owner of my A5 had apparently hit a lot of curbs, cement parking dividers, etc. as the front splitter had numerous scratches in the paint. I found Automotive Touchup via a Google search. They expertly and quickly filled my custom order for the Moonlight Blue factory paint. I sprayed the underneath of the splitter about a week ago and it looks fantastic! It is a perfect match and looks like the day it rolled onto the showroom floor! I'm now working on some chips on the door edges and when I'm finished it will look like a brand new car. Thanks much and would highly recommend your company to the World!
