CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1979 AMC (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. Click here for the AMC paint code location chart.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1979 AMC (All Models) is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Jeff E, owner of a 1979 AMC from Fayetteville, NC

I've ordered this color of paint from them before in the spray can. This order was an exact match to that previous order! Thanks!

Suzanne M, owner of a 1979 AMC from Clyde, NC

My vehicle is a 1979 American Motors Jeep CJ-7 Renegade. It was preserved by an elderly couple for almost 30 years in dry storage. When I found it, it had 56,000 actual miles on it and the original paint and decals. I thought about a new paint job but it made much more sense to try preserve the original package. To preserve it required finding touch-up paint to match. We are talking 35 years ago and an auto company that ceased to exist a long time ago. I got the spray, the bottle touch-up and the clear coat and IT MATCHES. I am still in the process of spot repairing places on the body that need it. When I'm done my CJ will be the coolest, most awesome blast-from-the-past jeep in the whole country!!

Edward R, owner of a 1979 AMC from Sewell, NJ

I am working on my second restoration using your products. Again I could not be more satisfied with them. The match is astounding! And since my restorations are on older acrylic enamel cars, it is nice to know you can supply that type of paint as well. Keep up the good work.
