CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1971 AMC (All Models), we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. Click here for the AMC paint code location chart.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1971 AMC (All Models) is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

Brian C, owner of a 1970 AMC from Shelbyville, TN

I build plastic model car kits to use this paint for. I've bought several times from automotive touch up and never had any issues. The paints lay down nice and smooth shooting them through an airbrush for my hobby. I have used the pre mixed thinned paints and the 2 ounce jars that I reduced myself. The paints require a clear to shine which is stated in the site. I have used cheap department store clear and matrix 2k urethane over them with no issues. Since it works good for my uses I am sure it will be excellent for use on a real car as intended. I will continue to use this company for my paint needs as I feel they sell at a good price point. They also fill the orders and ship quickly. If they don't have an item in stock they notify you and they will still get your item in a fast turnaround. Overall I am very satisfied with the paints and service!

Michael Z, owner of a 1970 AMC from Ray, MI

The color was a perfect match. The bottle and applicator brush worked great for small touchups.

Terry Uzzle, owner of a 1972 AMC Ambassador from Imperial, MO

Looking for a can of touch up paint to match a 35 year old car is not a easy task! I just recieved the paint today and ran outside to finish detailing my 1972 Ambassador. The paint was a perfect match! Thank you for a great product and fast service.
