CLEAR COAT IS REQUIRED WITH THIS PAINT

To ensure your paint repair blends in perfectly, you'll need to apply a clear coat over the color coat. While AutomotiveTouchup paint products are custom mixed to perfectly match the color of your 1989 Acura Legend, we use the same basecoat/clearcoat system as your factory specs. You can add a clear coat to your order on the next step. The color code can be located in the driver side door jamb. Here is an example of an Acura paint codes and it's locations.

Did you choose the wrong vehicle model?

Did you choose the wrong model? How about the 1989 Acura CL, Ilx, Integra, Mdx, Nsx, Rdx, RL, Rlx, Rsx, Slx, TL, Tlx, Tsx, Vigor, or Zdx?  If you're still not sure, take a look at our All 1989 Acura Models page.  Or, just go to our page dedicated to Acura Touch Up Paint

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1989 Acura Legend is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

Here's what our customers are saying about our Touch Up Paint:

David S, owner of a 1989 Acura Legend from Eugene, OR

Well packaged, appears to be the right color (code is correct), but have not had a chance to use it. I ordered it to touch up some treated rust areas on rear trim panel, but decided to have the piece professionally done instead. Will keep this for later touch-ups, however. Thank you.

Michael R, owner of a 1990 Acura Integra from Cherry Hill, NJ

Excellent color match to original.

Gregg M, owner of a 1990 Acura Legend from Tucson, AZ

This was my second time using products from Automotive Touch Up and this time I was not as ecstatic with the results due to my amateur attempt at fixing severely faded paintwork on a 25 year old car with 235,000 miles. First: not enough prep work, sanding, etc. to get the surface spotless and perfect on all the horizontal surfaces (hood, roof and trunk). Second: the existing paint on a 25 year old car will never match freshly sprayed paint. The color match was very good to perfect, but much richer and slightly darker than the existing paint --- to be expected compared to the remaining 25-year old paint on the rest of the car (doors and quarter panels). Third: despite constantly cleaning the tip of the spray can for the base color, occasionally I would get a blob of darker paint and there was nothing I could do to remove it. Overspraying it with more paint did not help. Fourth: I did not order enough clear coat so the final finish is spotty in many places. So am I happy - yes! The car looks way better than it did and for less than $150. I would have spent at least 3-4 times that amount to have someone else do it. For what the car is worth (<$1000) and is a work/airport car that still gets 25 mpg. Once I get the car back from a family member that is using it, I can still order more clear coat and finish the job properly!
