Some times the code will have a prefix of DB but this is not consistant. Click here for Mercedes Benz examples.

Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 1999 Mercedes-Benz Slk Class is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. AutomotiveTouchup products faithfully reproduce your vehicle manufacturer’s basecoat/clearcoat system.

This paint is some of the best I have ever used. In addition to the excellent product, the directions are equally as well done and the shipping is fast and well packed. I have done dealer looking paint repair jobs on my wifes mercedes and another one I bought to sell. The prep and technique are key, one very important point I learned the hard way was don't sand in between the base and clear coat applications. the clear coat is a smaller finer molecule that really fills in the rough base just as described and make it look perfect. I highly recommend this product and the directions, whoever wrote them really paid attention to what they were writing. Follow them and you will have great looking paint jobs! I've purchased from you folks multiple times over the years, and have always been happy. This latest project also went well due to your excellent color match and clear coat products. I have a 2000 Mercedes E55 that, while young in miles, had a lot of surface dings and scratches. The worst was a mass of deep abrasions where someone has backed into a rock or something. It had bothered me ever since I bought the car. With your paint and clear coat (and careful wet-sanding with very fine papers) I was able to make that blemish disappear. Very happy! Thank you!

Lucas S, owner of a 2000 Mercedes-Benz S Class from Palm Springs, CA

The quality of the paint is fantastic. I've used primer, metallic base coat and 1k clear coat, all in spray cans, and as I said, the quality of the paint is outstanding. Excellent color match, great coverage. There is, however, one significant flaw; the design of the spray can/nozzle. Either the nozzle is too short or the collar lip of the can is too high because the vertical spray pattern hits the lip, which quickly builds up and causes dripping/splattering... Which can and has caused a day or 2 set back and a lot of extra work. Also, it's near impossible to get even coverage on any vertical panel, as tilting the can past 45° also caused splattering and minimal paint flow. If the design of the cans were fixed, this would be an excellent, 5 star review.
