Why The Two-Step Paint System?

Your 2007 Subaru Justy is painted at the factory with a high quality basecoat/clearcoat system. This two-step paint system consists of step one, the basecoat, which is your car’s actual color, and step two, the clearcoat, the specially formulated clear paint that protects the base color and provides the luster and deep shine your vehicle came with when new. Perfect match color. I used this on door outside rear view mirror covers. The mirrors come from a salvage vehicle and were the incorrect color. Temp 70F, humidity 55%. Sanded the covers with 1000 wet. Cleaned with TCP and alcohol. Two coats color 15 minutes apart. Let cure for 30 minutes. Then, 5 coats of clear, 15 minutes apart. After 48 hours, buffed with McQuire's rubbing compound, then wax. They came out perfect. I have finish photos to upload but I don't see a mechanism to do that here.

The paint color matched perfectly. I was concerned that since the car is seven years old that the replacement part that needed to be painted would not match the rest of the car - that was not the case. The color is identical. I was also concerned that since it is a metallic colored paint, that it would not cover uniformly - again, that was not the case. The paint sprayed on perfectly. I used multiple light coats of the base color, overlapping as the instructions state, and the disbursement of the metallic content was excellent. Once the clear coat was applied (three coats), it is impossible to tell that the new part was not installed at the factory. I couldn't be happier with the results. Excellent product and an excellent value.
